Savory pressed turkey and Gouda Sandwich w/ slap yo mama fries.

After nearly a month long hiatus in Sudan, Memphis and The Village Staff retreat, I am home!!! This sandwich was BALLAAH! And the slap yo mama fries, I promise, are the perfect compliment. Now I will warn you husbands to HELP your wives not fall into gluttony on this one, by only offering her a small portion of this sandwich. My wife and I split this meal right in half and she was stuffed but could NOT stop eating it because that melted gouda and avacado spread was changing her life. So help her out if she has no self control like my wife claimed she lacked.
This recipe may test your patience. It’s a sandwich and fries so its easy, but you need to pay attention and make sure you aren’t just throwing things together because this one is all about taste and texture. You don’t want to over spice or add too much of anything or burn the bread, its all about slowing down and paying attention and the finished product will speak for itself.
Note: Girls like sandwiches but aren’t big carnivores so don’t kill her with meat!!

Sandwich Ingredients: asiago cheese foccacia bread, Gouda, deli turkey, ham, avacado, dijon mustard (not pictured, so dont forget it), spinach and Cavendars Greek seasoning
Slap yo mama Fries: two whole potatoes, Cavendars Greek seasoning, olive oil, oregano, salt, pepper and paprika (also not pictured).
Prep time: at most 10 minutes for each
Cook time: 10-15 minutes max for each
Presentation: 1 min.

Slice the bread as shown with hand on top applying pressure as you slice in the middle so you dont tear the bread.

Add mustard sparingly to your bottom bread. Dont kill the meal early by turning this into a mustard sandwich.

Mash and soften your avacado and add to mustard covered bread.

Spinach next
note: This is where you sprinkle the Cavendars Greek seasoning on top of the spinach, this is one of the “change yo life” secrets to a savory tasting sandwich.

Gouda…mmmm thats alot of cheese but that complemented with the seasoning makes a perfect taste!

Turkey and ham of course.

Add your top bread and get ready to cut.

This cuts allows for pressure to keep the meat and everything from sliding.

Cut till you get 4 pieces, they are hearty trust me!! Place these aside, you will later press these either in a pan (grill cheese style to warm them) or Foreman grille right as the fries are finishing.

Cut the two potatoes in half.

Then slice the potatoes again as pictured above.

You should have six sections as you see pictured.

Cut these sections length wise about a 1/4 inch thick to give you a nice fry as pictured above.

For you health conscious folks I use olive oil. It’s worth the price because it does not leave you bloated. Cook the fries until golden brown.
Drain fries on paper towel.
This is where the “slap yo mama” comes into play. As they are cooling add salt, oregeno and paprika to taste, don’t be shy on the paprika.
note: Make sure you toss the fries around to get an even taste, the paprika contrast with the salt is the key combo.

Press the sandwiches in a pan or with a Foreman grille until bread and Gouda cheese is warm all the way through.
Arrange the fries and the two sandwich halves together on a plate and…
SPLICKY PLAYAOH!!!! Your wife will think you are a Panera bread sandwich specialist or something real gourmet that sounds impressive.
